OKTOBERFEST 2010
The United of Jasper County, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the Newton YMCA successfully hosted the 4th annual Oktoberfest Free Family Fun Festival at the Newton YMCA on October 2nd from Noon to 3:00 p.m. Over 800 Jasper County children and parents attended Oktoberfest. “We were very pleased with the turnout to this family event. Families need affordable fun activities and we are proud to be able to provide this opportunity each year for families in Jasper County,” stated United Way of Jasper County executive director Megan Crawford. “Thank you to all the volunteers who supervised the activities and to the sponsors. We couldn’t have done it without you.”
Kids enjoyed a bounce house, barrels of fun train, sidewalk chalk, bingo, a Newton Fire Department truck on display, face painting, pumpkin painting, bookmark making, bowling, inflatable sports complex, bean bag tossing, bicycle riding, receiving child identification kits for emergencies, receiving temporary tattoos, and grandparent survival kits making. Snacks and refreshments were provided by Aces Teen Club.
