Lynnville-Sully and Berg Elementary Students Make "CHANGE" Happen

The students at Lynnville-Sully and BergElementary Schools know how to make a “CHANGE” in the lives of others. During November, classrooms at both Elementary schools participated in "Pennies for Change," a United Way of JasperCounty sponsored coin collection drive to benefit the 18 United Way community partners providing services throughout JasperCounty.  After hearing how their change could make a difference in the lives of others, the children and their teachers got busy and in one week’s time raised over $1,179!

“I am overwhelmed and impressed at the generosity of these children and their families.  By their simple act of kindness, they have positively impacted the lives of JasperCounty residents and also learned the important life lesson of giving,” said United Way of Jasper County Executive Director Megan Crawford.  “I appreciate that Principals Todd Schuster, Berg Elementary and Teri Bowlin, Lynnville-Sully Elementary and the dedicated teachers at both schools allowed this opportunity to be used as a teaching tool.”

As a fun incentive, the classroom at both schools that collected the most change received a pizza party hosted by the United Way of JasperCounty as well as Live United backpacks.  At Berg Elementary, Mr. Smith, a long-term substitute for Ms. Rankin and his 6th grade class won the challenge and Ms. Stacy Veiseth's 1st grade class at Lynnville-Sully took the honors.

Congratulations to both classes for helping make CHANGE happen.
