The United Way of Jasper County conducted a comprehensive study of health and human service needs in Jasper County in 2009. The purpose of gathering this information was to accomplish the following objectives to pinpoint and prioritize community needs, inform and support resource investment decisions and strategize community solutions that will improve community conditions.

As a follow up from the findings in the report, the United Way will sponsor two county-wide summit meetings with community members who are invested in the quality of life of Jasper County and its residents. All Jasper County residents are cordially invited and encouraged to attend these meeting to be a part of determining the most critical needs of our county, setting tangible goals, and brainstorming ideas to reach those goals. The outcome of these summit meetings will enable the various entities of Jasper County to more collaboratively direct their efforts and resources toward addressing these critical needs. Although the United Way of Jasper County is taking the leadership role in this process, the focus of these meetings is for community members to participate in a collaborative process where positive approaches to tackle critical needs emerge.
The first county-wide summit meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 15th at 6:30 p.m. at the DMACC Newton Campus in room 251. The second summit meeting will be held on Thursday, July 15 at the Innovation Center on the Iowa Telecom/Windstream campus, 403 W 4th St N. Please contact the United Way of Jasper County office to RSVP either by phone 641-792-1684 or electronically at unitedway@iowatelecom.net.
