Progress Industries: Betsy's happiness
Betsy’s apartment had become a fire hazard with clutter and excess throughout. Due to assistance and a great relationship with P.I.’s hourly residential support staff, Betsy uncluttered her home by clearing and removing a truckload full of items. Items that could be re-purposed were donated to individuals in need and other charitable organizations. Through the SCL Hourly residential program, Betsy continues to develop and maintain necessary daily living skills to live in her own apartment. P.I. has worked with Betsy for more than 30 years. This program and the on-going supports are key to Betsy’s progress, success and future as she maintains her independence. Without this program, Betsy would most likely be living in a far more restrictive environment with fewer opportunities and options to lead a productive and fulfilling life. Betsy is happier than she has ever been after overcoming this personal challenge, which has also led to greater success in areas where she had previously resisted change.

Crisis Intervention Services: Safe & Supported
A client and her daughter that we provided safe shelter to made the difficult choice to quickly return to Jasper County and the batterer. A few months later she returned to shelter and then was able to transition to her own apartment in Jasper County. She told us that she felt supported even though she initially chose to return to the perpetrator and in no way felt judged, allowing her to return to shelter when she had established more supports for the transition to being on her own.
